How To Play Electric Guitar

OK. So you finally stopped looking at her through the window! That noble head, her shapely neck and her curvaceous body. You went into the shop and you bought your first Electric Guitar and now you want to make wonderful music with her!

Fortunately, unlike some relationships, the electric guitar is not difficult to get along with as long as you follow some simple guidelines.

Firstly, please don't make the same mistake that I made. I played guitar for years without taking any proper instruction and I could never play a song through without getting at least one or two notes wrong. Now there are some fantastic guitarists out there who have never had a formal music lesson in their life, but they are few and far between. Eventually I took electric guitar lessons and although it took me a long time to get out of bad playing habits they finally paid off.

So, find yourself a reputable guitar teacher and you will have someone who cares whether you learn or not. Your tutor will do their best to instruct you properly and will boost you up when your struggling. However, if you don't fancy face to face tuition or you're finding it hard locate a good guitar tutor you can always turn to the internet for help.

Their are literally hundreds of electric guitar courses online. Some are free (but remember, you get what you pay for) others are membership sites, some courses you can download to your computer or you can get guitar lessons on DVD (my favorite).

Their are books that you can buy that will show notations of popular songs as well as chord diagrams and tabs (individual finger position and other information), strumming patterns and pick variations.

Whether you want to study  jazz, rock, or country style guitar, there's no alternative for playing along with more experienced players, although, sometimes experienced guitarists can get impatient with the newbie's who are jamming with them. So you can always try using guitar pro software, you can play along with backing tracks and no one will complain if you mess up!
